Grilled Summer Fruit

Summertime means grilled food and the freshest fruit. The two best foods of summer. Grilling fruit combines these bests of Summer. Sweet and juicy, crispy and smokey, seriously the best. Most recipes call for honey or oil, but these are so sweet on their own, and certainly crisp up just fine.

(but you can use whatever you like!)

How To;
(For peaches;)
Rinse and dry.
Cut in half and scoop the pits out.
(For pineapple;)
Cut the top and bottom off.
Cut/peel the sides taking off the thick skin.
I sliced mine into eight pieces.
Using a knife cut the core out.
Fire up your grill!
Place the fruit on the grill.
(Be sure not to move it around too much,
to keep those pretty grilled lines intact)
Using tongs check to see until they have blackened slightly (3-4 min).
Flip using tongs or a spatula.
Once lightly toasted on the other side (about 2-3 min).
Use your tongs or a spatula to move to another plate.
Top with a scoop of vanilla bean coconut milk ice cream,
or garnish with a sprig of fresh mint,
or just enjoy them on their own!

Three Ingredient Raw Vegan Brownies DIY




Say hello to the most delicious Three Ingredient Raw Vegan Brownies. You can kiss your boxed brownies goodbye because so-long are the days where those are considered convenient. Not only are these brownies so easy to make (like three ingredients + a food processor, and that's it) they are SO delicious and healthy, you will never want to waste your time or calories on a baked brownie again. These are fudgey and gooey with a wonderful complex chocolate flavor. And made with Raw Cacao (packed with antioxidants), Walnuts (full of essential Omega-3 fatty acids), Medjool Dates (easily digested and packed with vitamins), these brownies are nutrient dense. They are Raw (keeping all those health benefits in tact), Vegan, Gluten Free, Paleo. Read on to figure out how to make your own.

1 cup Organic Medjool Dates
1 cup Organic Walnuts
1/2 cup Organic Raw Cacao Powder

-Blend all ingredients together in your food processor.
-A large ball will form, break apart and blend once more until fully incorporated.
-Press into a plastic wrap lined pan.
-(I use an 8x8, but you can use whatever, a tupperware container, anything)
-Refrigerate for atleast an hour, and enjoy!

Because these are so simple you can dress them up in any way, throw in some peppermint extract, or coconut, or almonds, or dip in some Raw Vegan Chocolate, or smear on some homemade peanut butter.

Three Ingredient Raw Vegan Dark Chocolate DIY

Who doesn't love Dark Chocolate? It's supposed to be great for you, full of antioxidants etc, but chances are that dark chocolate you are picking up at the market is full of a lot of unnecessary stuff, and it definitely is not vegan friendly. Taking on the task of making Raw Vegan Dark Chocolate sounds like a lot, but really, it is three ingredients + so quick and easy to make yourself, here's how;

1/2 cup Coconut Oil
1 & 1/3 cups Raw Cacao Powder
3-6 tbsp Liquid sweetener of your choice
(I chose Raw Agave and used 3 tbsp,
but you could go for regular Agave, Maple Syrup,
or Raw Honey (for the non vegans))

-Melt your coconut oil. It melts at 76 F. Mine was already melted.
If yours is not, fill a bowl with hot water and place the jar in the bowl.
-Pour 1/2 cup coconut oil into a mixing bowl.
-Sift in the 1 & 1/3 cups Raw Cacao Powder.
-Add in half of the liquid sweetener.
-Whisk until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
-Add more sweetener to taste.
-And you are done. Seriously that easy.

-I poured mine onto parchment paper in a baking dish and put in the fridge to solidify, then chopped into chunks, but you can do whatever. This stuff is incredible when you dip fruit in, or in your morning oats. Throw on some goji berries, shredded coconut, sea salt, peppermint extract, or orange extract, the options are endless! Play around to find which liquid sweetener suits you. And remember that coconut oil melts at 76 F, so this stuff melts around there as well. Keep it refrigerated. Enjoy some Raw Dark Chocolate Goodness!

Why Raw Cacao rather than Cocoa Powder?
Raw Cacao powder has not been heated past a specific degree therefore all the essential nutrients and enzymes remain intact, making this stuff good for you. Pointless for baked desserts but essential for raw desserts.

How is Coconut Oil good for you?
Coconut Oil is better than other Oils because while it is full of fat, it is MCT's rather than LCT's making it easier to metabolize and digest. One of the healthiest and most beneficial fats.

Santorini Dreams (+ An Easy Braided Crown Hair Tutorial)

Wishing (+ also pretending) I was in Santorini but really just standing in front of a wall next to Free People Cambridge in my favorite summer midi dress. I can't get enough of the beautiful embroidery + open back of this dress. It makes me dream of visiting Greece.

When the summer is hot hot hot like it has been, I can't deal with my leaving my excessively long hair down. I did a French Braided Crown Hair Tutorial late last summer, but this one is so so quick and easy to do, because you don't need to french braid! Simply; part your hair (If you do a side part in the front like I did, do a middle part in the back). Braid both sides and secure with a clear elastic. Pull apart and loosen the braids slightly to give them the a fuller and thicker appearance. Fold the braids over, tuck the ends in and secure with bobby pins (I used 5, but you may need more or less depending on your hair type).

These are the photos from the second shoot Katrina and I did for Free People Cambridge. This summer we are both living in the charming Brookline, where we took these photos. Like the surrounding Cambridge and Boston it has lovely brick alleys filled with hidden gems and trailing ivy. For this outfit I'm wearing the Voile and Lace Trapeze Slip, layered with the Bad Romance Pull Over, all over the Seamless Mini Slip. For accessories I donned the Extended Brim Clipperton Fedora, and piled on the Coin Drop Bangle Set, and the Jay Bead Pendant. All items are available at our Free People location in Harvard Sq at 63 Church St in Cambridge MA.
