After my recent trip to LA I am so excited for spring and summer... my current favorites;
- The color GREEN. In all shades.
- Hair clips, especially these pearl ones, to hold my curls back.
- Delicate gold jewelry (always).
- These old dirty white adidas sneakers... however I am dreaming of a pair of Veja's.
- A net bag filled with art books, essays on immigration, scrunchies, a sumo orange, and a bottle of water.
- Rainbow nails, and extended this into a three week manicure with Olive and June nail stickers.
Honestly, when shooting these photos I felt so self conscious. My legs were pretty badly bruised (I am such a klutz... so I definitely photo shopped those out), and I just got off a flight and had been up since 4 am. And the whole time shooting, I just didn't know what to do with my body. I was meeting and shooting with Kathryn for the first time. I just didn't feel right.
But when Kathryn was shooting me, she was so chill with my insecurities, so patient, and so fun. She kept reminding me that I am human, and no one would notice the things I notice. The shoot is about the style not about your body.
That is the cool thing about social media. As freaking scary as it is to post photos of yourself, dive into the comparison game, and connect with strangers, so much good can come out of it. The people I have connected with have made it so worth it. Kathryn and I have been instagram friends for 5 years, and it was so magic to finally meet and become real life friends! It felt like we had been friends for years. I love that social media can make the world a little bit smaller and connect you with ladies who you have so much in common with.
