Hello Loves, my favorite autumn drink is without a doubt apple cider. This fall I learned to make homemade apple cider. Albeit time consuming, making apple cider is not so difficult, and is really worth the effort, as it tastes delicious (and makes your whole house smell incredible). Here is how to make Apple Cider (and a few different ways to serve and enjoy);
What You'll Need;
-9 fuji apples
-1/2 cup of sugar
-4 cinnamon sticks
-cheesecloth
-large pot
-strainer
-potato masher
Steps;
-Slice apples into quarters (leaving stems and seeds is fine)
-Put apples into large pot.
-Put apples into large pot.
-Add in the sugar
-Cover the apples about three inches with water.
-Wrap cinnamon sticks (and any other seasonings) in doubled up cheese cloth and tie. Place in pot.
-Boil uncovered on high for 30 minutes, reduce to medium heat for another 30 minutes.
-Be sure to frequently check and stir.
-Simmer, covered, on low for two hours, continue stirring and checking periodically.
-Let cool for two hours.
-Remove seasonings and mash to a pulp.
-Use a strainer to separate pulp from juice.
-Squeeze the rest of the pulp (through strainer) to get as much juice as possible.
Serve;
-Hollow out an apple and serve with a cinnamon stick stirrer.
-Or serve as a Hot Apple Cider Float, warmed in a mug or jar with a scoop of vanilla on top.
