The perfect fall date, pack a picnic basket with blankets, wine, jars, and a fall cheese plate. Head to the river at golden hour. And don't forget the sunflowers, and your favorite Free People dress.
Tips for the perfect fall cheese board;
Load up on your favorite cheeses! Using a variety of textures creates a dynamic cheese board. Soft Saint Andre (or Brie) and even softer Goat Cheese with Hard Gouda and Harder Cheddar gives a big variety. (Variety means everyone is happy!). Honestly cheese and fruit is my favorite combination. Add seasonal fruit, such as, figs(- the best!), peaches, apples, and grapes. Mix in dried fruit, such as cranberries. Nuts! Crunchy pairs well with the fruits and cheeses. If you are interested add olives and charcuterie- I hate both so I opted out. And a mix of crunchy crackers and chewy french bread. Make sure you have proper knives to slice with.
I spray painted cardboard to resemble a chalkboard, love the way this looks. If you do too, be sure to add a food safe seal, or cover with parchment paper or plastic wrap. And of course, pair with your favorite wine. We chose a spicy full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon to offset the sweet fruit and strong cheese. Hand calligraphed labels for the jars and a hand done menu are the finishing touches. Make your own label by cutting gingham blue patterned paper into a tag shape, punching a hole, and attaching a string. Oh! And flowers, lots of flowers!
