I seriously love photographing her, she is so stunning. A mix of Natalie Portman & Winona Ryder with a Stevie Nicks soul. Her make up and all-black outfits are always flawless.

DIY Vegetable Pie in Jar

Vegetable Pie is the ultimate comfort food for sweater weather (freezing) winter days. I've made blueberry crumble and apple crisp in jars, but never a pie in a jar, let alone a savory pie. I don't like traditional pie crust, but top off this perfect filling with puff pastry, and I'm sold.

Ingredients;
One Package Puff Pastry (I used Pepperidge Farms)
5 small red potatoes
5 small golden potatoes
3 stalks of celery
1/2 onion
5-6 cloves of garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
5 oz. of corn
5 oz of carrots
5 oz. of peas
(I used frozen for the above three, 
but you could use fresh or canned)
1/2 cup butter
3 tbsp corn starch
2 cups vegetable stock
1/4 tsp ground mustard
1 tbsp chopped chives
1/2 tbsp oregano
Salt & Pepper
1 egg

Instructions;
Rinse and peel the potatoes. Boil for 8 minutes in salted water until soft.
In a large pot heat the olive oil, and cook the celery, onion, and garlic until almost softened.
Remove from pot and set aside.
In the same pot melt the butter, whisk in the cornstarch until smooth and thick. 
Stir in the veggie stock.
Stir in the cooked potatoes, celery mixture, corn, carrots, and peas. 
Season with ground mustard, chives, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Pour into a pie pan or divide into about twelve wide mouth jars, or six wide mouth jars.
Roll out the puff pastry dough. 
Slice dough into squares.
Cover with puff pastry
Beat one egg with two tsp of water to make an egg wash.
Brush tops of dough with egg wash.
Bake at 375 F for about 25 minutes until the dough is golden brown.

Although I adore living in the city, I sometimes miss the serenity of the country, having an entire field to myself to romp through. Living in Boston I love finding little secret places where the noises of the city fade away and there isn't a person in sight. From my little alley ways (featured extensively on the blog, some of my favorites from this spot; here, here, and here), hidden corners of public gardens (here and here), and now this spot. Behind a giant willow tree in the park, surrounded by reeds. I'm sure homeless people sleep here at night, but during the day sunlight shines through the leaves, and the nature in the city shows (I even saw a bunny!). (Photos from early September, that I found on my hard drive)

DIY Chocolate Croissants

Chocolate croissants remind me of mornings in Germany and Paris.
My absolute favorite dessert for breakfast. These are super easy to make and so delicious!

how to make chocolate croissants

Ingredients;
Package of Puff Pastry (I used Pepperidge Farms brand)
Bag of Chocolate Chips (I used dark chocolate)
One Egg
Powdered Sugar (optional)

Instructions;
Roll out the puff pastry.
Slice pastry into six pieces.
(The package comes with two sheets of puff pastry,
one package will make twelve croissants)
Sprinkle chocolate chips into the center of each piece of pastry.
Beat the egg with two teaspoons of water.
Brush the egg wash on three edges of the pastry.
Roll the unwashed side of the pastry over the chocolate chips.
Fold the other side over. Press down the edges.
Place seam side down on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
Bake for 10-15 minutes at 400 F.

After this past Ice Storm in Maine, everything was coated in Ice, it looked as though everything was covered in glass. Nature is beautiful.
