DIY; Mom Jeans to High Waisted Shorts

Here is a DIY tutorial on how to turn old mom jeans into high waisted shorts! I've always thought it was quite simple, but people always ask me how, so I decided to document what I did last time. Here is the how to on two different styles, cuffed and cut off!

I started with two pairs of jeans. I went to my local thrift store, and they were have a sale and I got both of these mom jeans for a dollar each. A pair of levi's (SO exciting!) and a pair of liz claibornes (okay random.. but nice!).

First; Levi's

Note how terrible and lumpy these look.

Put the jeans on and make a line where you want to cut, then using sharp scissors cut across the line.

After I took these I put them through the wash to fray, photos of me wearing them frayed are in my next post. It makes such a difference!

It's strange how cutting off the legs makes such a different to the way they sit on your butt and hips.

On these ones I drew the line slightly lower than what I wanted. I coated the edges in clear nail polish to prevent fraying and then rolled them up.

Pretty simple, but fun and absolutely unique.
I'm already dreaming up ways to customize these even further (lace, studs, fabric paint). So fun!

Photography; Night Sky

This is my first ever attempt at shooting long exposures of the night sky. It was a beautiful night around Easter and so I decided to give it a try, I took these in the field across from my house.

Being alone outside at night is so incredible. I saw a herd of deer and heard them breathing and heard their hooves. It was so cool being so in touch with nature. Although, toward the end, I heard coyotes getting louder and louder until I could tell they were right near me and I saw them in the woods. I don't think I have EVER ran that fest. Next time I am certainly making someone come with me!

This past February I was really really sick, and I mean reaaallly sick. To the point where I had to go home. When I got home, it was late at night and on my bed was this shirt and a note from my little brother saying he hopes it makes me feel better. This was the sweetest thing. When he was much younger he went through a phase where he was sooo interested in mummies and pyramids and everything Egypt, so my mom picked him up this shirt from a thrift store. As he has gotten older he has started just wearing it to sleep. Last year I rediscovered it and would always borrow it and beg him to let me have the shirt. He finally has, and it makes me so happy! Brothers are the best.
